Mr. Montes completed a four year apprenticeship in structural group ship repair before working as a journeyman fabricator in the Subic Bay Navy Yard (Philippines). After immigrating to Canada in 1978 he worked in the oilfields as a welder fabricator.
In 1984 Mr. Montes obtained his ‘A-Level’ accreditation from Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek, after which he obtained his interprovincial Red Seal qualification. He then worked as a welder for for Tri-star industries, Axton Industries and TIDECO Industries.
Mr. Montes worked as a welding instructor at Kwantlen College for seven years before joining the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) as a certification representative. After eleven years, Mr. Montes retired from the CWB and is now working part-time for SKC Siu Engineering in the role of welding instructor. |
